GENERAL FORUM RULES [OOC]Respect your staff and fellow members. If you have a quarrel with another member, just pretend they don't exist, rather than getting into a confrontation. It's either that or leave, whether we have to ban both of you or not. No harassment, sexual or otherwise, racism, religious conflict, or other harmful subjects should be brought up out of character.
Don't steal characters, graphics, ideas, or any other sort of content. It's not fair to the original owner. I've had a character stolen from me before, and I was disgusted. It'll warrant almost an instant ban - think of it as a zero-tolerance thing. If you're using graphics from another site, provided that this is allowed [such as caution] please credit the authors in your personal text/signature/post, depending on how you used them.
No sexual content allowed. Of course, in the RP there are slightly more flexible rules [read them and you'll understand] but Out of Character, we don't want any of it. Especially not in graphics. Remember guys, PG13. I don't want to have to ban you, nor do I want our forum banned for adult content. Drug use and/or linking to things that reflect positively on narcotics is also forbidden.
Advertising is only allowed in the designated board, and nowhere else. And in the chat box, if you're a member of this site, you may link to your site in your name, but don't repeatedly call attention to it. Have some respect for the fact that this is our forum. Also, spam advertisements are forbidden everywhere - even in the ad board.
APPLICATION, PROFILE & GRAPHICS Talk about hitting three birds with one stone. To start off - you may register with any ridiculous name you'd like, within reason, but after you've registered, we ask that you change your name to your character's first, middle, and last, all in lowercase. If the admins have to edit it for you, it sometimes gets irritating.
Use detail in your application, but please don't write us an entire novel on your character. Development through the RP is alright, you don't have to name every single one of their personality quirks. And with history, we only really need what's relevant, so you don't have to include mention of relatives they've never spoken to, pets that don't have much important, and so on.
In your profile, you must have an avatar to be accepted. It must be 100x200px in dimension - if you can't make one yourself, simply ask one of the administrators to do it for you. Signatures are optional, but should not exceed 500px in width. There is no limit on height, as long as it isn't ridiculous. Text graphics have the same requirements. But remember, if someone else made the image or banner for you, give credit where it's due.
Be reasonable. This is technically an RPG based in lifelike situations, aside from the fact that Dalton & Glee are 'fictional'. Which means no, humans can't have powers, non-humans are not allowed, mortals are bound by The Laws of nature, and everything special like that. Also, not everyone can sing, not everyone can dance, not everyone is a genius, and so on. Please, give your character a number of weaknesses as well as strengths. I swear, if I see a Mary-Sue, I think I'll kick something
Spelling and grammar. Please, if you'd like to get on our good sides, use it. There is a spell check for a reason, and if a sentence sounds funny, you might want to think about rewording it. We'll generally let one or two mistakes fly by, but if it gets ridiculous, we'll end up denying your application.
ROLE-PLAYING RULES [IC]There is a word count on this site, unfortunately. We want people who know what they're doing in terms of giving something to work with, so our WC minimum is 300. Stuck on what to include in your posts? Describe the surroundings, detail your characters thoughts, give them odd quirks [like shifting their weight, tapping a pencil, chewing their lip] that they can display every now and then to add a few words. Really, it isn't that hard once you get the hang of it.
NO SEX. I think I made that clear enough. Kissing and all that, we don't mind. But once the clothes start to come off, stop the thread. We aren't five, we're all well aware of what happens when you stick two hormonal teenagers in a room together and they're shoving their tongues down each others throats.
Swearing isn't banned at all, within reason. Neither is in-character bullying, harassment, negative views on religion, ect. Keep in mind, however, that it is in character. If Johnny's character insulted yours, he probably doesn't have a personal problem with you. Not all of your characters have to like one another, and in fact, IC drama makes the RP world go 'round. So we encourage it, rather than disallowing it.
Dalton is an all boys school. Faculty can be female if you really want, but we discourage that as much as possible. Almost every RPG out there has an abundance of girls, and practically no male characters. I'm sure you can resist the ladies for one site, if it interests you that much.
Not all characters should be gay, and not all of them should be Warblers. Homosexuality isn't incredibly common, nor is singing talent. I'm not saying you shouldn't make gay/bisexual characters - by all means, go ahead - just keep in mind that there are plenty of straight guys at Dalton, too. Blaine said it himself when Kurt transferred, remember? (; And non-Warblers are encouraged.
Haven't read CP Coulters fic? [-gasp- Shame on you!] We do recommend that you read it, it's very well written, but it's not a requirement. We just based major parts of our website off of her interpretations. A quick recap? Windsor house is full of tricksters, from what we've seen, the Stuart house are somewhat uptight and value education highly, and whilst there hasn't been much focus on Hanover, the fanfiction is still ongoing, so I will update this when we know more about them.
